A wonderful, wonderful man with a truly amazing sense of energy and enthusiasm for everything life has to offer. I have extremely fond memories of our childhood times with you all, and will never forget your happy go lucky, laugh a minute personality, and superb sense of humor. I should have paid far more attention over the years to your repertoire of jokes, and wish that I could remember some of them, although I doubt that I could deliver them quite as well as you managed too! My more recent memories are the same laughter filled, happy times that we shared with you all in Essex and the Midlands as we grew up. You had so many stories of mischief and adventure of you and dad as you were growing up that I still recall and make me smile. One of my favorite ones was your encounter of my Dad failing his first driving test. Epic!! Truly, truly blessed and lucky that you were part of my life. We recognised a friend in Lawrie from the moment we met and this was before we moved into the bungalow next door to to him. He offered us tea and was so friendly that we felt we had lived there for years. His battle to study archaeology is a lesson to us all and his enthusiasm when a particular 'find' was made was infectious. This signified what Lawrie gave to life and he lived it to the full. His ready smile and constant jokes are irreplaceable and will be missed by us all.

We have been firm friends since meeting in 1979 at a Yachtmaster course by the Tower of London Polly. Only two of the students rushed to the pub for a quickly in the 10min break. Guess who. Since then we have shared numerous sailing adventures many of which were quite hairy but Lawrence was as dependable a friend as one could ever wish for. I will miss him greatly.
